Tap. Connect. Keep going.
Choose Start route and tap your starting point. Each tap extends your route. Drag the map to pan; two fingers also pan and pinch to zoom. Drag a numbered point to adjust it. Choose Done to stop adding points.
Take your own path
Follow paths uses pedestrian routing and snaps new points to the mapped path. Direct line joins your taps exactly—place points around every bend for an unmapped trail or shortcut. Switching affects the next segment. Solid orange is a walking route; dashed orange is a direct segment. Small dotted links connect a tap to the mapped path. If routing fails, the point is not added.
Elevation & “stairs”
USGS 3DEP bare-earth elevations are sampled about every 25 meters, up to 200 samples per route. A 1.5 m reversal threshold reduces small terrain fluctuations. Gain, loss and flights are estimates. Flights equivalent is uphill gain divided by 10 ft; it is not a count of physical staircases. Terrain data can miss stairs, buildings and bridges.
Use Stair repeats for actual upward steps and a known step height. These totals stay separate from terrain gain. Purple map lines show stairways where OpenStreetMap contributors have mapped them; coverage and step counts vary.
Local map layers
The parks and paths overlay searches the visible area on demand. If the detailed feed is unavailable, it tries USGS trail records and reports limited coverage. Zoom in, move the map, then choose Search this area. Map coverage is incomplete; a path on the map does not establish public access or a continuous sidewalk.
Save and reopen
Drafts and device routes stay in this browser. Run Club adds private account copies across devices. Use Account / share on a saved route to upload it. Choose whether to share its stats and, separately, its exact path. Notes stay private. Shared completed runs count in weekly and all-time mileage leaderboards; planned routes do not. Rankings use self-reported traced runs, not verified GPS activities. My routes also includes backup and restore. GPX export contains the route geometry. Internet is needed for fresh maps, walking routes and elevation; existing saved distances and profiles can be viewed offline after the app has been loaded.
For quick access on your phone, use your browser’s Add to Home screen option. This app plans or reconstructs a run; it does not record GPS in the background.
Map credits & privacy
Street map: OpenFreeMap, OpenMapTiles and OpenStreetMap. Roads, buildings and labels redraw sharply as you zoom. The live feed includes mapped changes; no map guarantees every new building. Routing: Valhalla / FOSSGIS. Elevation: USGS 3DEP. Aerial: USDA NAIP 2025 / Mississippi MARIS, 30 cm source resolution. These are 2025 photographs, not live images. Zoom requests finer imagery up to its source limit; aerial zoom then stops instead of stretching the photograph. Switch to Street for closer point placement. Parks and paths: OpenStreetMap via Private.coffee Overpass.
Map views and route coordinates are sent to those services to load map data. On opening, the map asks permission to find your location using the device’s available GPS, Wi-Fi or cellular positioning. A blue dot and circle show the fix and estimated accuracy. Tap the crosshair to refresh it. An open route or a view you have moved stays in place. If location is unavailable, choose an area manually. Your location fix is not saved to your account or added to a route. This is a one-time position check, not live tracking. No paid mapping account is required for this personal-use version.
